A Field Guide to BrakhalLives held within the wards
Architecture, personal protection, people and living systems encountered in Brakhal’s arrival district.

Within the Ramparts
A sectional view of the inhabited infrastructure and Saevren’s personal protector.

Inside the Arrival Ramparts
A sectional view connects the receiving halls, transport platforms, training spaces and inhabited galleries. It shows how functions sit above and beside one another within the protection. The section is an architectural guide; its placement and scale are illustrative.

The Clavicle Ward
A shallow V of graphite and aged bronze rests below Saevren’s collarbones, with a small amber centre. Fitted by Vessara, it is his personal enchanted protection, separate from the wards of the buildings and the protection surrounding the egg.

Saevren
Saevren arrives from Durnakhar with experience in fine metalwork and a decision to train. His learning continues through technique, effort, rest and relationships of his own. This reference records his appearance before Vessara fits the Clavicle Ward.

Vessara
A ward fitter in the arrival district. Her measured work gives Saevren his first personal protector in Brakhal, joining careful inspection with practical attention to the person who will wear it.

Sella
Sella helps new residents find their place in the inhabited galleries. Rooms, shared meals and everyday errands bring her into Saevren’s first experience of the district beyond its training halls.

Keldan
A fellow trainee with his own life beyond the courts. Shared practice, small corrections and work in the kitchen gradually make Keldan a person Saevren knows, as well as someone whose pace he must learn to read.

Neyris
A fellow trainee whose attention to direction and other people becomes valuable in shared exercises. Neyris helps make pauses, signals and conversation part of the practical work of moving together.

Garrhen
At the Load Courts, Garrhen teaches posture, breathing and the control of weight. He gives Saevren concrete corrections and time to understand them, making strength a practice that can be observed and improved.

Theryn
Theryn teaches at the Shield Stair, where footing, sightlines and the position of a partner change the use of a shield. His work begins with the relationship between an edge, a body and the space beside it.

Ilyra
At the Passage Grounds, Ilyra asks groups to listen, agree and reassess. Routes and loads give her students practical reasons to communicate; reviewing an attempt matters as much as beginning it.

Life Under Protection
Plants, fungi and animals occupy different protected habitats within Brakhal.

Flora & Fungi of Brakhal
Cultivated roots, aromatic leaves, fibre reeds, flowers and fungi share protected growing spaces. Beyond those enclosures, the Sealed Rosette survives beneath its own biological ward. The specimens on this sheet are shown at different scales.

Fauna of Brakhal
Gardens, galleries and protected freshwater support a small community of animals with different needs. The Seamback and Deep Clasp belong to the exterior, each dependent on a biological ward. These are distinct habitats within one demanding territory; the specimens are shown at different scales.

Different ways to remain alive.
Ordinary living systems depend on sheltered air, cultivated soil or protected freshwater. The few exterior organisms shown here maintain biological wards. Their protection is essential to survival in the bromine.
