Islands Natural transition Sector boundary
The sector at a glance
Water connects the five seas. Each sea includes its islands, surface waters and submerged surroundings. The transitions follow island chains, channel mouths and changes in the seabed.
Fishing and tourism sustain life among the islands. Sorcerer-built portals connect island communities within Lazrien.
Keep your bearings The outer shape marks Lazrien’s sector boundary. Its five sutures meet neighboring sectors of Veyrath; local island portals belong to a different kind of journey.

Neravel · Sheltered Sea Islands within an island arc
A broken arc of small islands shelters inner waters, beaches and connected lagoons. Openings between the outer islands keep these waters joined to the Open Sea.
On the surface Pass through the openings of the outer arc into sheltered bays. The shelter is relative: the sea remains connected, and darkness still changes life along every shore.
Along Eirhallow, with reaches toward Thalenor and Khemetra.

Vaeruun · Shoal Sea The world beneath clear water
Low islets rise from an extensive submerged shelf. Banks and channels give the sea a patchwork of shallow environments, with the deeper water beginning beyond the shelf edge.
On the surface The visible seabed gives these waters their character. Channels separate the banks and connect the shallow environments, providing a setting for fishing and exploration.
Toward Thalenor and part of Nhalassar.

Istraven · Strait Sea Waterways between long islands
Elongated islands form roughly parallel chains. Long water corridors and cross-passages link their shores before opening into the central sea.
On the surface Follow the corridors between island chains, then the broad mouths where those channels enter open water. These local straits belong entirely to Lazrien.
Along Nhalassar and part of Brakhal.

Oryndal · High-Isle Sea Cliffs above a descending floor
A discontinuous chain of steep, small islands holds cliffs, coves and sheltered coastal faces. The seabed descends close to the islands before opening toward the central sea.
On the surface Steep shores alternate with coves and protected faces of the islands. Across the outer slope, the water opens into the central sea.
Between Brakhal and Khemetra.

Saervath · Open Sea The distance between shores
Wide stretches of freshwater connect the four surrounding seas. A few isolated islands interrupt the open water; an arm extends between the Sheltered Sea and the High-Isle Sea toward Khemetra.
On the surface Leave the close succession of shores for longer open-water crossings. The four surrounding seas connect through island openings, channel mouths and changes in the seabed.
Across the interior, with an arm reaching the Khemetra suture.

Submerged sill Banks form a shallow transition between the sheltered inner waters and the open shoal platform. Channels keep the two seas connected.
Natural transition 02
Incised shelf Broad banks become more deeply cut, and channels between elongated islands begin to organize the water into corridors.
Natural transition 03
Ridge passage An aquatic corridor separates the end of the long island chains from the beginning of the steeper island groups.
Natural transition 04
Broken island arc The outer islands belong to the Sheltered Sea. The regional transition follows their seaward side and the openings between them.
Natural transition 05
Shelf break The extensive shallow floor ends and begins descending toward relatively deeper water. The transition varies in steepness along its length.
Natural transition 06
Channel mouths The corridors open beyond their final islands. Water that was framed by nearby shores becomes part of a broad open expanse.
Natural transition 07
Steep insular slope The submerged slope follows the high island chain. Its lower transition opens onto the broader floor of the Open Sea.
